The Real Man's Cookbook

Lunchtime Cheese

Say cheese. Yes, the favorite food of mice is also one of the favorites of men. Cheese comes in a variety of flavors, cheddar, American, Swiss, gorgonzola, mozzarella, etc. It is one of those ubiquitous ingredients that will compliment nearly any dish and even tastes good on its own.

Cheese for men is like chocolate for women. We can eat it any time, anywhere, on anything and it is also a kind of aphrodisiac. Chocolate is reported to spawn endorphins in a woman's brain causing them to want to go to bed. This is why men have forever given women candy for almost any occasion.

Cheese makes a man feel like he has actually eaten something. Since mankind has only a few primal urges to which he pays any attention, when hunger is gone, there is only primal urge left...the urge to go to bed. More often than not, this leads to a prolonged nap to recover from a session at the table, but on occasion it also has other desired effects.

There are not too many hard and fast rules about cheese. The main one to remember is that marinara sauces normally take mozzarella, ricotta, or parmesan. Otherwise, you can mix and match to your hearts content. However, most cheese soups use yellow cheese. If you want to get your fill of cheese in a dish that also contains every man's favorite vegetable, try out this recipe. Top it off with a nap and you will have the perfect lunchtime meal.
