1 lb spaghetti
1 jar or can of your favorite marinara sauce
1 onion - diced
1 lb hamburger
4 fresh mushrooms - sliced
3 cloves garlic - crushed or cut up very small
dash black pepper
dash red pepper
Get your biggest pot on the stove. Pour in a gallon or so of water. Set it on your highest heat setting. The object here is to create superheated steam - or at least boiling water.
While you are waiting for the big pot to heat up, get out a saucepan and toss in the burger. Brown the burger and add onions, mushrooms and garlic. You may strain off the fat. If it is fairly lean burger it will be mostly broth and you can drink it just to horrify your wife (she will think you are slurping up solid oil). If it's lean burger you can also leave the broth in the sauce to good effect.
When the burger has browned, add the remaining ingredients to the sauce(except the spaghetti). Stir and keep warm on simmer until the spaghetti noodles are cooked.
Now cook noodles in pot per package.
Strain noodles, flop on plates, spoon on sauce. Serve hot.
Serving Suggestion: good with garlic bread, never with corn.
Suggested Beer: home brew with sediment.
